10 out 10 Campaign Completed!

As of July 31st all congress members of Massachusetts support the DREAM Act! This whole journey started with a trip to Washington D.C on June 13rd. At the time only 3 of our Congressmen (Capuano, Olver and Markey) supported the DREAM Act.

When we got to D.C, we met about 700 student leaders from all over the country. There, we had a mock graduation event and proceeded to go to the capitol and lobby our congressmen. After a long day of hard work in D.C we were able able to get three more co-sponsors (Delahunt, Frank, McGovern) for the DREAM Act.

Whithin two days of being back in Massachusetts, we got an e-mail from Congressman Lynch saying he would co-sponsor the DREAM Act. At that point we were 7 out of 10!!

Between the months of July and August, SEIU had helped us get Congressman Neal on board. The next target was Congressman Tierney, our North Shore Chapter was able to build enough pressure to get him on board. The hardes target was Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. At first, she was reluctant to co-sponsor the bill, but our Lawrence chapter was able to buld enough pressure to get her on board. By the end of July, we had 10 out 10 co-sponsors!
