I did not want to begin with I, for it has a curious tendency to arrest the YOU and quickly divert attention away from the US. However, as it is, I believe that for this unique moment, it shall do no harm…

 I can’t seem to fully master the art of introductions so I will just be blunt: My name is Mara and I am undocumented. I used to think that that reason alone was enough for me to start blogging, yet now I know that my desire for public expression has exceeded personal frustration— It has surpassed my need for self preservation. I am just so outraged by the way the U.S. immigration system so ruthlessly dominates people’s lives that silence can no longer be my captor. No, not when justice is so viciously distorted.

But I will save my indignation for later posts.

As for the rest of me, I am a lover of the arts and that includes writing. I am a strong believer in the power of language and the manipulation of it. I tend to be playful sometimes with my word choice, but I’ll try to refrain from using those archaic expressions we are all so very fond of. I sincerely hope that my thoughts will be of some use and that they might, in any way, move others to speak up.

I am happy to serve and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead.
