We got a lot done on Tuesday, in the morning we drove to Lawrence to speak with Tania Palumbo. The weird thing is, that even though they had called me on Monday to confirm my appointment, when we arrived there they acted like there was no appointment. But it was cool, though. We did not speak with Tania, but we got to meet Zoila. She is another immigration lawyer who gracefully offered to give us a free consult. Zoila was great; she went over all of the details of our cases with a lot of patience. She explained to us what our next steps should be even though she believed she was not the best lawyer to represent us.
Later that day we drove to Framingham to be interviewed by Shirley on Bate Papo com Shirley. Being on a TV set was very cool. Even though it was public access TV, they still had a lot cool gadgets. While snooping around, I even saw something that looked a lot like an oscilloscope! That was awesome; up until then I had never seen oscilloscopes being used anywhere but college labs. When it came time to be on the spotlight everyone did a great job. Vinny and Lai Wa got to tell the viewers about SIM and our END campaign. I told Shirley about my story and why I am on removal proceedings. Shirley was great too, she is a very sharp lady and she kept the conversation going like a pro. After the interview I felt like I was finally getting used to telling my story in public without being nervous. I am sure all of this public speaking will pay off one day when I am presenting my dissertation in front of college professors.
