Dear Representative:

Thank you for the opportunity to express my support for the Dream Act Bill HR1751, and petition for the support of your office as well. As a student and member of a diverse community, I joined the Student Immigrant Movement (SIM) after having met several students who are undocumented but, nonetheless, remarkable citizens of good moral character who have neither voice nor political representation in our country. In view of the challenges and fears to be deported that undocumented immigrant students face on a daily basis, I encourage you to push for the passage of the DREAM ACT. This legislation will allow student immigrants to pursue their dreams to become professionals and fully integrated citizens of the country that was so influential in their formative years, the United States.

The passage of the Dream Act will not only relieve the lives of undocumented students, it will also strengthen our workforce, improving our national economy and the competence of America in the international arena. It will also assist in the process of reforming our broken immigration laws while addressing concerns of national security. Recently, prominent leaders in Academia and Corporations including the presidents of Harvard and Stanford University, College Board, and Microsoft have publicly expressed their support for the Dream Act. It is in America’s best interest to provide the legal means to allow our youth to get an education and make invaluable contributions not only to our economy, but to our country.

Thank you again for taking the time to review my letter and consider the urgency to review our immigration laws and provide a realistic, affordable, and humane solution to the 2.5 millions of undocumented students currently residing in the United States.

Sincerely,

(Your Name)
